The 2014 racing schedule for Eastern Canada’s most successful drag racing series’ —  will hone in on Grand Bend Motorplex this season….

GBM-TreeBruce Mehlenbacher’s PMRA, Quick 32 & Pro Bike & Sled Series has adjusted their racing schedule and now all of their Canadian events dates will be hosted exclusively by Grand Bend Motorplex.

The adjustment was a surprising development on some fronts because up to this point each season all three circuits had been regulars at Cayuga Dragway Toronto Motorsport Park, a track where they had raced since their inceptions.

Initially the 2014 schedule did include some planned appearances at Cayuga – most notabably during that track’s Canadian Nitro Nationals – this coming July 12-13.  But after some failed negotiations, that event appearance has been deleted.

The reasoning behind the decision is tethered mostly to issues surrounding surface preparation and in a recent official statement from Bruce Mehlenbacher (Director Of Operations for the PMRA, Q32 & PBSS) he said:

“Issues relating to track maintenance and preparation at Toronto Motorsports Park have not been resolved,” said Mehlenbacher,  “And our series date for July 11-13 2014 at the Canadian Nitro Nationals has been cancelled.”

“The safety of our racers is our absolute primary concern,” Mehlenbacher added.  “Unfortunately on that subject the opinion supported by the Series and the majority of our circuit drivers and the opinion of Cayuga’s race track ownership does differ.  But hopefully there will be resolution so that we can go back to Cayuga at some point in the future.”

The PMRA and it’s complimentary series’ will play to the enthusiastic crowds at Grand Bend Motorplex this season a total of four times, beginning in May at the RPM Magazine/Lucas Oil Spring Blowout event (May 16-18).  PMRA cars will also be a major part again for the IHRA’s Mopar Canadian Nationals (June 20-21) before returning twice again during August (8-10 and 29-31).

Grand Bend Motorplex will be the exclusive Canadian home to PMRA - Q32 & PBSS circuit racing this coming season.

The PMRA will venture twice into the USA this year too, being featured at U.S. 131’s Super Chevy event (May 30-June 1st) and then at Maryland International Raceway (Sep. 26-27th).
