Canada Heads Up – Shootout Series – Aug 14-15 event highlights…

With good weather in the forecast, entry numbers were up and with it some amazing runs, close side by side finishes and a ton of new names in the finals!

Canada Heads Up – Shootout Series presented by Speedwire Systems, Nash Competition Engines, Miska Trailers and Headrush Apparel entered Toronto Motorsports Park with a wave of performance numbers and new comers to the semis in many classes!

EZ Street started the Pro category and after Brandon Silva lit the boards up with his first pass in the 4.4x zone earlier in the weekend, he found himself in the finals against class hitter Matt Glassford and his iconic ’72 Nova. Matt took the stripe for the win with his 4.51 et over Brandons 4.52!

The newest class of CHU was contested again – X275; Tyler Kranendonk set the bar this weekend, clicking off a few passes in the 4.3x zone. The finals saw Tyler over Adam Bastarache (4.399/ 4.418)!

Bill Gadal continued his outstanding season adding yet another win to his belt in 5.0 Warriors, taking out Jack Vandeweil in the finals. In similar fashion, Mickey Dinnoo continued his winning streak in Stock Wheel Base Bike by beating Damion Tong in the finals. Street 275 new comer Doug Reid made it to the finals to lose to class hitter Steph Mallais.

Paul Bhawan put the Super Street class on notice with a string of low 4-teen ETs this weekend, including a best pass of 4.10 secs. After a mechanical issue caused him so grief in stagging his Datsun, he jumped the beams, giving Dyan Stevens’ nitrous powered 3rd gen Camaro the win!

Brant Rossi (below photo) was the talk of the town in Pro Bike as he continually was able to drop his ets pass after pass for most of the weekend, ending with a best et of 6.74! He took his efforts right to the finals, beating Jon Snider for the win!

Ricky Carlos set low et of the event in the final round with a 4.06 which took him to the winners circle over Mauro Caringi in Pro10.5.

“Lil Ricky” Carlos was a popular Pro 10.5 class winner.  He ran the best ET of the event in the finals at 4.068 secs 183 mph

Other weekend winners include: Mike Valvasori, Tamara Gray, Jim Mangov (doubling up/ Sat and Sun winner), Darcey McCoubry, Will Fogan Jr, Jim Tofano, Tony Valerio (doubled up), Mike Pereira (winning 3 classes this weekend), Carter Daniels, Kelly Shaw, Charlize Bertrand, Payton Kiss, Kyle George, Brad Parent, Vasylyy Lukivshyy, Paul Morin, and Lindsey Caldwell.

Canadian Stock/SS circuit regular — Tony Valerio – doubled up for wins Saturday and Sunday in 7.50 Index racing.

Carter Daniels –was winner for the Saturday Junior Dragster big money shootout presented by Priority Collision, Ohara Farms and McGuinn Racing Team

Alexx Hill – was a finalist in Saturday’s 6.0 Index event.

The next event (#5 of 6 this season) is set for September 12-13 back at Toronto Motorsports Park.
