A Near Miss for “Abe”

During his career Abe Loewen has been in the final round 4X at Pomona Raceway

One of Canada’s most prolific Sportsman racers – Abe Loewen — came very close to adding to his already impressive trophy case during last weekend’s NHRA season-ending AAA Auto Club Finals at Pomona Raceway.   The driver of the Regina-based “Queen City Performance” Pontiac Grand-Am came very close to collecting his 8th career win at the NHRA national event level when he placed runner-up in Super Stock eliminator.

Loewen lost the weather deferred final round (which was held on Monday) when he went .008 red in the final versus Jody Lang.   Before that Abe had advanced through 5 rounds of racing after qualifying his SS/FM machine #11 with a (-.870) 9.630 secs run.

It was in fact Loewen’s 5th career final round appearance at fabled Pomona Raceway.
