Canada’s Shawn Cowie continues domination at Auto Club Raceway Pomona…..

It’s weird to just say you won the “Winternationals” in August (except maybe if you lived “down under” )….but Shawn Cowie can now make that statement truthfully.

The expert Canadian Top Alcohol Dragster driver racked up his 22nd event victory at the NHRA national event level when he scored in the final round for the pandemic rescheduled Lucas Oil Winternationals (originally pegged for last February) but completed yesterday.

Shawn Cowie set both low ET and top MPH while winning at Pomona long delayed Lucas Oil Winternationals event.

The victory driving his Langley BC-based Mundie’s Towing & Recovery dragster was Cowie’s second of 2021 – but amazingly it was his 7th win at the fabled Pomona facility.  Shawn now has five Winternationals titles and two Auto Club Finals wins to his credit there.

….That’s now 7 wins and counting at Auto Club Raceway Pomona for Shawn Cowie’s Mundie’s Towing & Recovery TAD team!

TAD racing at this (likely once in a lifetime mid-summer edition) was a thinly attended affair by usual standards — with only 8-cars entered in the class – but that did not take away from Shawn’s team win — which was a commanding one.

He qualified #2 (5.325 secs) and set both low ET and top mph (5.311 secs and 275.73 mph).

After beating Ron Anderson and Casey Grisel — he faced off against his fieriest supercharged TAD rival – Joey Severence – for the event title.

Severence, who is from Oregon, jumped out to a significant lead (.027 to .072 RT) only to have his blower belt break — and that ultimately proved to be no match for Shawn’s winning 5.325 secs at 274.39 mph.
