A change of direction for Eastern Ontario orientated grassroots racing facility….

Announced a bit earlier this season — after five years of managing the drag racing program at Shannonville Motorsport Park, Chuck, Kevin and Jackie Fram will be stepping away from the management of Shannonville Drags, with a new local team preparing to take the reins.

The decision marks the end of a rewarding five-year chapter for the Fram team, one that has been built around racing, relationships and a commitment to growing grassroots drag racing at Shannonville.

“We’ve really enjoyed our time at Shannonville,” said Chuck Fram. “We set out with some pretty clear goals when we took on the program, and we’re proud to say that we accomplished those goals. We’re leaving on our terms, and we feel it’s the right time for Kevin, Jackie and myself to move on to things closer to home.”

The commitment required to operate the program has also meant a considerable amount of travel, with the Fram family regularly making the six-hour trip each way to Shannonville.

“Five years of making that trip is a lot of highway,” Fram joked. “At this point, we need to put some more time into things closer to home.”

While the management chapter is coming to an end, the relationships built along the way certainly aren’t.

“Probably the biggest thing we’re taking away from Shannonville is the people,” said Fram. “We’ve made dozens of great friends over the years. The racers, families, volunteers and supporters have become part of our extended racing family. Shannonville racers will always be family to us.”

A New Team Takes the Wheel

Taking over the Shannonville Drags program will be a new team led by longtime local racer Butch Douglas.

Douglas says the motivation behind the new group is simple.

“For the love of the sport.”

The new team brings local knowledge, racing experience and a strong connection to the Shannonville racing community as it looks to build on the foundation established over the past five years.

Shannonville Motorsport Park owner John Bondar has also endorsed the transition and expressed his confidence in the new management team.

“It’s clear that the new team has the passion and energy to take our bracket program to a new level. Their collective experience in the sport will be a tremendous asset here at Shannonville Motorsport Park.”

Not Goodbye!

For the Frams, stepping away from management doesn’t mean stepping away from Shannonville.

“We’re not sure exactly what comes next for us,” said Fram. “But we do know one thing. We’ll be back. We’ll be back to race, visit with our friends and watch the next chapter unfold.”

After five years of building a program, supporting racers, working with sponsors and sanctioning bodies, and helping create a strong grassroots racing community, the Frams are leaving Shannonville Drags with appreciation for the experience and optimism for what comes next.

Five years. A lot of racing. A lot of highway. A lot of memories. And a whole lot of friends.

The Fram family wishes the new team nothing but success as they begin the next chapter of Shannonville Drags.
