NHRA’s John Scotti Canadian Championship (Western Series) held it’s final event of the season at RAD Torque Raceway…

Competition for all of its class categories for 2026 were wrapped — with the exception of Sportsman Motorcycle – which will be completed this coming weekend back at Medicine Hat Alberta.

The series did have 6 season races scheduled this summer – however only completed five – a second event – also planned for during Edmonton’s Rocky Mountain Nationals was not run due to timing conflicts — and will not be rescheduled.

At Edmonton, racing within the JSCCS Top Comp category was the most ferocious – with that class benefiting from enormous support from within RAD Torque Raceway’s home grown Top Eliminator class participants.

It was an astounding weekend for class racer Monty Beagle (from Calgary) who collected in style racing his T/D.  First, Beagle won a rescheduled final round for Top Comp class racing (defeating Zak Clarke) which had been deferred from MHDRA the weekend before.  Then at Edmonton he was able to wade his way through another field (29 cars entered) winning that 5 round 1/8th mile tournament race late on Sunday afternoon.

Monty ran a 4.56 secs (4.55 dial in) to defeat Edmonton’s Jenna Michaud in the championship round – Jenna ran 4.01 secs (3.99 dial in).

With that Monty Beagle was also assured as the 2026 NHRA JSCCS points champion!

Reid Holland (above) – from Warman Saskatchewan — won the Super Comp class event held during Edmonton’s Rocky Mountain Nationals. Rory Moser – below — (from Red Deer AB) scored for Super Gas.

Classic Mopar-brand cars were dominating again within the JSCCS Western division — with Darcy Clarke winning the final Stock/SS Combo event in his SS/EA Savoy.  Clarence Bidniak – the defending 2025 class champion – successfully defended that in ’26 – winning the season’s points chase again in his  ’70 B/SA Roadrunner
