Some snapshot highlights from Edmonton’s RAD Torque Raceway feature races….

Mid-August produced the 2026 editions for two of RAD Torque Raceway’s popular annual attractions — last week’s back-to-back editions — Hot August Night & Smoked Out Shootout.

Lethbridge, Alberta’s Kylar Van Ee brought his nitrous-powered Chevy Vega to RAD to compete in the 5.30 index class at Hot August Night. While the 5.30 class was unfortunately rained out on Wednesday, Kylar stuck around to make some test laps on the weekend at the Smoked Out Shootout, and his wheel-standing launches proved to be a fan favourite.

Alberta standout racer Tyler Stamler continued his hot hand — picking up two more wins, winning the rain delayed X275 portion of Hot August Night, and then picked up another X275 in the Smoked Out Shootout. The two wins made it four total at RAD Raceway in the 2026 season, joining his earlier wins at Border Warz and the Rocky Mountain Nationals.

John Cuglietta took his Nick Duda-tuned turbocharged Mustang to a runner-up finish for the Hot August Night X275 feature.

Saskatchewan’s Riley McLellan brought in his High Noon Barracuda to RAD’s  Hot August Night exhibition and his long smoky burnouts equated him to an immediate fan favourite!

Justin Collin and his nitrous-assisted Foxbody Mustang were competing in X275 at Hot August Night when the car made an unfortunate right turn and heavily contacted the guardrail. While Justin was unhurt, the car has unfortunately been deemed unrepairable, ending his 2026 campaign.

Edmonton’s Ed Verenka brought his A/Fuel dragster out for an exhibition run at Hot August Night and produced some massive header flames to the crowd’s delight!

Jeff Whitworth brought his creative/cool Chevy II to compete in X275 at both Hot August Night and the Smoked Out Shootout.  Uniquely — this car features a small block Ford motor program!

The very talented Duda Brothers (Nick & James) — from BC, brought their turbo 1963 Corvette to RAD Raceway for the first time – making some exhibition laps in Pro Mod competition at Hot August Night.
