Big Time Ramp Up for Alberta’s Lesenko!
By: Bruce Biegler
Canadian racing fans have a lot to look forward to this coming season courtesy of Alberta’s Todd Lesenko who is ramping up his drag racing program “big time”…
Lesenko, who first emerged on the drag racing scene in 2009 when he debuted a Camaro bodied Nitro Nostalgia FC, was at the Bakersfield March Meet last weekend with two new and very interesting entries – a Mustang Funny Car (formally raced by Steve Plueger) and a new rear-engined Nostalgia Top Fuel car — which he debuted and ran for the first time at that race.
And while it is for sure that Lesenko’s machines will both be popular attractions all this season on the NHRA Heritage Drag Racing Series – that is probably not the biggest news to come from this racing camp.
Lesenko has formed a significant partnership with California’s Steve Plueger going forward.
Together they will in fact debut a bonafide NHRA Full Throttle Series fuel Funny Car later this summer. Current plans have that machine scheduled for it’s competition unveiling during the Fram-Autolite Nationals at Sonoma in July.
Montreal-based “Total Oil” will be the primary sponsor for the Dodge Charger-bodied car, along with a long list of valued associates including Lesenko’s own Bumper-to-Bumper chain of stores.
