Cantusci Comes Close @ Concord

Eastern Ontario’s Gianni Cantusci almost made perfect on his trip down to North Carolina for last weekend’s NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at ZMax Dragway…..

Cantusci (who is from Stittsville) had a fantastic outing finishing up as runner-up in Super Stock eliminator driving his ultra reliable and familiar GT/HA 2000 Firebird.

After qualifying #6 with a .906 under 10.14 secs ET, Cantusci proceeded to win five rounds during eliminations, which included win lights over the very formidable cars driven by Tom Sheehan, Lee Zane and Jeff Sealy.

In the final round however Gianni faced class powerhouse Dan Fletcher from Western New York state.  Ultimately his 10.118 secs was a break out while Fletcher pounded out a perfect 9.280 secs on a 9.28 dial in to collect his 37th career win in NHRA Super Stock class racing.

For Cantusci, who has multiple wins on the IHRA trail to his credit – the Concord race final was his first in NHRA national event racing.
