Australia’s 400 Thunder Drag Racing Series kicks off its new wrap around season…..
Fabled facility Sydney Dragway played host to the opening round of racing for the 400 Thunder Aeroflow Drag Racing Series as a great field of entries were on hand for the reputed return of East Coast Thunder (Nov 4-5).

For the first time ever in competition – a 400 Thunder Drag Racing Series event included nitro FC racing – with 5 cars entered for the initial event eliminator. Running the full 1/4 mile — Brandon Gosbell emerged the event winner racing his Rocket-sponsored Dodge Charger running both low ET 4.892 secs and top speed at 328.78 mph.

Pro Modified configuration racing at Sydney included two classes with Emilio Spinozzi in his ’69 Chevelle winning Pro Slammer (top) and Zoran Gajic scoring in his turbocharged Mustang within the IHRA Pro Mod (5.85 index) class.

Russell Mills scored a very impressive win in the Pro Alcohol class during what was the debut for his very revolutionary streamliner configuration car! Russell qualified 4th and ran a best time of 5.487 secs at 266.60 mph in the championship round.

The 400 Thunder Pro Stock class (which features 400 CID engine programs) featured a win by Chris Soldatos in this Pontiac GTO.

Australia’s Top Fuel Bike “Kingpin” Chris Matheson notched himself yet another event win — running a best of 6.069 secs at 235.19 mph in the final round pairing.

Luke Crowley was the quickest bike entry in the Pro Stock Motorcycle class (7.021 secs 192.03 mph) and that performance did eventually equate to a victory.

The fastest motorcycle entered in the event’s popular Performance Bike class was Craig Edwards AA/CB Suzuki Hayabusa which he too rode to victory lane.
