Lesenko Announces Season Sabbatical

Todd Lesenko, one of NHRA drag racing’s most promising and colourful new character drivers has announced that he will step away from the sport of drag racing temporarily….

After competing last year on a part time basis within NHRA’s Mello Yello Series fuel Funny Car class, the Edmonton-based racer will not be racing during 2014.  He  will instead focus on his growing Fountain Tire business ventures while at the same time charting a plan for his return possibly as soon as 2015.

“Liz and I have decided to take a year long absence from drag racing,” Lesenko revealed. “Our focus will be training people to take over operations at our company and acquiring new staff to move forward.  This year will be a year of work – and no play.”

“I’ve had several offers to drive some competitive funny cars,” he added.  “And  I want to drive a car that is capable of winning a national event.  Driving on a part time basis just doesn’t work for me — but I will definitely be active on the sponsorship negotiaton front and developing  my next opportunity to drive.”
