Significant strides forward and more from British Columbia’s TK Performance race team during 2024….
Quite possibly one of the most rewarding & significant single runs within all of Canada last season came courtesy of Tom Katinic – from Maple Ridge BC.
Katinic who was driving a now turbocharged 1968 Camaro raised more then just a few eyebrows when he sped to an event performance highlight 6.274 secs at 232.20 mph during Mission Raceway’s season finale event attraction – last fall.
That was by far Tom’s career quick and fastest run, coming in what was now a highly converted (Pro Mod legal car) from what was formally campaigned by Derek Scherk within Mission Raceway’s Canada West Doorslammers series.

British Columbia’s Tom Katinic dabbled for the first time in a P/M class configuration car during 2024.
“I acquired the car back in 2022 and first ran it that season (normally aspirated),” Katinic revealed. “We then went to work on it – appearance first. For 2023 we took the wrap off and Corvette Specialties painted it metal flake, with a candy clear with Nick Boose doing all the air brush work. For that year we did swap out the transmission to a 3-Speed Rossler also.”
“Next up we pulled the 632 CID out and installed a 567 BBC built by Brian Ritchie. We built both the twin turbo hot and cold side – in house. Using a Holley dominator (which we wired) — we also did all the fab work.”
Tom’s team also enlisted the services of highly reputed Nick Duda who helps guide the team’s tuning department – and the benefits of all that were demonstrated by season’s end.
“Initially we were leaving the starting line at lower boost (12 lbs) – because we did have to deal with some traction issues before the 1/8 mile,” he added.
The team did run the car once more late season when they entered the SCSN event held at Las Vegas — where they were within that event’s Precision Turbo presented Pro Mod division.
Plans for the team’s future do include a bottom end motor program update this winter to their current steel rod 567 CID configuration. The team also is planning to attempt some Big Tire/No Time races as well as regional West Coast Pro Mod events – for 2025.
“I have ordered a Bruno lock up and a Lenco transmission for the Camaro for the 2025 season,” Tom revealed too.
TK Performace, which is multi-faceted, is proudly presented by primary sponsor Lordco and that camp is most certainly also breeding another wave for Western Canadian drag racing! All four of Tom’s sons (Anthony, Aedan, Adam & Ashton) are already deeply involved in drag racing (photos below).

Aedan Katinic was named Rookie of the Year for Mission Raceway’s Canada West Doorslammer circuit in 2024.

TK Performance campaigns two Junior Dragsters – driven by Ashton (above) and Adam (below) – both regulars at Mission Raceway Park.
Tom Katinic’s profession is within the Film & TV industry as a Picture Car co-ordinator for both Legendary and 20th Century companies.
