Southern Ontario gets another healthy dose of Fast Street Car racing last weekend….

The highly popular Ontario Street Outlaws had another event episode at Cayuga Dragway at Toronto Motorsports Park – their third of four scheduled events there for 2020.   But in addition to their usual lineup of classes and traditional 1/8th mile racing — in conjunction with the OSO — the fabled race track included for the first time in it’s history some “no prep” drag racing.

The event was highlighted by Markham’s Nick Agostino — widely regarded as Canada’s premier fast street car racer — who put on a very dominant display while winning the Super Street class.  Driving his turbocharged ’69 Camaro — Nick first qualified #1 — then proceeded to be the quickest car during each round of eliminations with three of his four winning runs being in the 4.3 secs zone.

Canada’s premier Fast Street Car racer – Nick Agostino – was dominating on his home turf last weekend.

In the final round he bested wily racing veteran Tony Pontieri (Bolton ON) who was competing in the class with his versatile 2004 model Chevy Cavalier.  Tony ran a very competitive 4.564 secs but that ET was outdistanced by Agostino’s low ET/high MPH:  4.386 secs at 185.91 mph.

Matt Glassford beat Ryan Schulze in the highly competitive EZ Street small tire program.  His nitrous injected ’72 Nova had a final round winning time of 4.908 secs at 151.74 mph to topple Schulze’s ’86 Mustang.

Matt Glassford was the winner in the EZ Street category.

Other winners at the event included Michael Silva (Outlaw 235), Timo Poulos (Outlaw 275) and Sani Alibegovic (Outlaw Bike).  Eliminator titles also went to Mike Valvasori (Unlimited), Jason White (List), and Nicole Lambert (Outlaw Recruit).  The event’s “no prep” race — which took place on the top end and took advantage of the very long length of the Cayuga drag strip shutdown area — saw wins go to Stan Mazur (Big Tire) Matt Searle (True Street) Mike Graham (Small Tire) and Mike Cowley (Modern Muscle).

For the first time ever in Cayuga Dragway history — the top end of the facility played host to some “no prep” drag racing.

The 4th and final race of the season for the OSO at TMP will be held Sep. 13/14th.
