Recent Canadian drag racing happenings + happening now!…..

More Record Math! — Mission Raceway’s highly reputed track surface record for serving up world record breaking performances was once again “front & centre” recently.

Austin Christopher

During some test sessions in advance of and during last weekend’s Doorwarz 14 event – it was a two-wheeled machine making headlines.

Driving a turbocharged Kawasaki which is campaigned by the father and son combination of Gary and Austin Christopher, rider Austin recorded some barrier breaking numbers when his machine dipped into the 5-seconds zone!

Austin, based from Hope BC., hit two 5-secs runs – the quickest being 5.992 secs and the fastest being at 234.99 mph — both world record calibre — the fastest ever seen by a Pro Extreme calibre motorcycle runner for the 1/4 mile.

British Columbia’s Austin & Gary Christopher are also avid runners within Western Canada’s Top Fuel Harley scene – where they are 2X and defending series champions.

One-Two Count! — Top Alcohol Dragster racing competition for NHRA’s Summit Racing Equipment Nationals at Norwalk Ohio last weekend produced some impressive qualifying.

When the air had cleared after 3 round of qualifying — the top two cars for that 16-car qualified list – were both Canadian machines.

The Doucette Racing injected nitro car (from Winnipeg MB) earned the event pole position after skilled driver Alan Bradshaw (from Texas) clocked in at a 5.202 secs.

Manitoba’s Doucette Racing was the pole qualifier at NHRA’s Summit Racing Equipment Nationals last weekend in Ohio.

Just behind Bradshaw sat defending and 2X NHRA World Champion Shawn Cowie at 5.209 secs in the powerhouse Mundies Towing & Recovery supercharged dragster.

During eliminations however — both cars fell short of final victory.

Cowie lost out to eventual winner Matt Cummings by a 5.251 secs to 5.335 secs count in round two. Alan Bradshaw went to the “final four” with round wins over Jared Dreher and Shaun Blinzler, but then had tire spin problems versus Jamie Noonan.

Shawn Cowie qualified elite yet again within NHRA TAD class competition.

High Anticipation — Pro Mod Preview!

The Ian Hill Racing Productions $100,000 Canadian Pro Mod Series hits Toronto Motorsports Park this weekend for the second stop of its 5-race 2026 season series.

IHRP Pro Mods will be a featured class for the Nitro Nationals weekend this weekend – presenting an 1/8th mile 8-car feature.

“We have 13 pre-registered Pro Mod drivers ready hit the 660,” said Ian Hill.

The weekend event at TMP’s facility will start with some open test sessions beginning Friday.

All eyes will be on the entry of Jay Santos (Halton Hills ON) who has been dominating at TMP/Cayuga Dragway – going undefeated there for over 2+ years, with his Canadian record holding supercharged Camaro.

Santos will have to contend with some stout opposition however with racers from Ontario – Quebec and the USA being present — including the likes of Sam Andreacchi, Al Martorino, Sienna Wildgust, Ron Banks, Jay Kalso, Steve Boardman (photo below), Chris Brohman, Claude St. Maurice, Pierre Chiroine, Serge Giroux and “Big Sal”.

DragRaceCanada will post results from this IHRP Pro Mod event next week to our Nash Competition Engines “Pro Mod Portal” subsection.
