Seattle S/G to Calgary’s Reg Wilson
By: Bruce Biegler
A huge congratulations to Calgary’s Reg Wilson who became the latest in a long list of Canadians who have won at the NHRA national event level.
Driving a ’34 Roadster, which was only very recently acquired, Wilson slew the Super Gas (9.90) field during last weekends NHRA Northwest Nationals near Seattle. It was his first ever NHRA national event score.
In the final round on Sunday, Wilson got an easy one when his opponent Justin Lamb (from Nevada) had a starting line DQ. Prior to that Reg had prevailed during five other grueling rounds of competition – including a round two win over cross town Calgary rival – Ken Mostowich.
For Wilson, who had just recently competed some 16 weeks of “chemo” and had never driven his new roadster before the weekend – it was a very gratifying victory.
