Crazy Cool Corvette!

Just one of the many spectacular race cars that caught the eye of DragRaceCanada during last week’s IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals was the very flashy ’63 Corvette owned by Gary Urlacher.
The Spruce Grove Alberta based driver reports that while currently running as a Top Sportsman classed car it may not be too long before a step up to the Pro Mod class ranks takes place.
Powered by a 632 CID engine from Pat Musi, Urlacher pushed the Jerry Bickel built car to a personal best (so far) of 7.068 secs 193.40 mph to qualify #1 in Top Sportsman. That event was apparently the first time that Urlacher had turned on stage one of his 2-stage nitrous oxide injection system.
“My crew chief Jim Mason is getting a good handle on the car now,” Urlacher reported. “It’s always been my dream to own and drive a Pro Mod car and we are now talking with the West Coast Pro Modified Association.”
Urlacher’s car, which is brand new this season, features an absolutely stunning and totally original paint scheme. That was done by Baker Boyz Designs whose normal specialty is custom motorcycles. Gary reported that his Corvette has over 1000 individual air brushed skulls in flames (!) throughout.
“Basically we gave the guys at Baker Boyz a free reign and the results really speak for themselves,” Gary added.
Urlacher’s family oriented race team includes his wife Vicki and his daughters Amanda and Susan.
The team also has its own website: www.DadsGoneRacing.com
