Eastern Canada’s thriving fast street car scene hosted arguably its most impactful overall event of the season recently in Ontario….

St. Thomas Dragway, played host an impressive weekend which featured two marquee events — the RPM Magazine’s “Smackdown 4” as well as the concluding season round for the Canada Heads Up circuit (Sep. 26-27).

The weekend was highlighted by “full tilt heads up” 1/8th mile drag racing for a number of categories — and three Ontario-based racers stood very tall after recording undefeated weekends:  Nick Agostino – Adam Bastarache and Damian Tong.

Nick Agostino dominated action at St. Thomas — winning X2 and clinching the Canada Heads Up Super Street season title.

Saturday’s event schedule saw RPM’s reputed “Smackdown 4” (powered by Maxima Racing Oil & associates RM Racing Lubricants and Ross Racing Pistons) feature which was run off including some NT (no time) win-light only basis racing.

The victors for the RPM Smackdown 4’s two quickest categories were Nick Agostino (Outlaw Extreme) and Adam Bastarache (Limited 28s).  Matt Searle won in the demanding Real Street class (with his Mustang) and it was Damian Tong that prevailed in the Stock Wheelbase Bike class riding his Suzuki. The overall “Closest to Dial” title went to “Boomer” Duquette and it was Malakia Ladd scoring in Junior Dragster.

Sunday’s race program was dedicated to the 4th and final event of the season for Ian Hill Production’s Canada Heads Up Street Car Shootout Series (presented by Maxima Racing Oil).

Nick Agostino (from Markam ON) dominated again — this time in the Super Street class – running both low ET and top speed of the meet (4.33 secs/186 mph).  He singled in the final round to win over Pano Moros — who’s event bid was cut short when he was shut off on the starting line after his burnout.  Adam Bastarache (from Georgetown) completed his undefeated weekend of racing when he topped Nico Cechet in the final round battle of turbocharged EZ Street class Mustangs.

Prior to his double up “Smackdown” weekend — racer Adam Bastarache had never won a circuit race!

Damian Tong scored the Street Bike class and it was Tyler Kranendonk’s Mustang winning in 235 Outlaws and the Chevy Nova raced by Jay White in Street 275.

Sunday did include some index racing too with wins going to Landon Swain (8.80 Bike) and Austin Ward (6.50 class).  The Junior Dragster eliminator went to Arnold Fox and the ET bracket titles saw scores by Brad Gibbs (Super Pro), Craig Degouw (Mod) and Trevor Rock (Bikes/Sleds).

On his Suzuki, Damian Tong went undefeated over the racing weekend at St Thomas Dragway’s feature.

Tyler Kranendonk (Norwich ON) roared to victory in the 235 Outlaws class category with his great looking Mustang.

Jay White (from Hamilton) won the Street 275 class in his cool nitrous-assisted Chevy Nova.
