More cool and significant tidbits from within the stream of Canadian drag racing…..

World Record Run! Quebec’s Carl and Ron Brunet produced a world wide drag racing tremor during last week’s Drag Illustrated presented World Doorslammer Nationals held in Orlando Florida.  Racing their unreal 4-cylinder Pontiac GXP (equipped with an 88 mm turbo charger) Carl’s talented Napierville Dragway team broke a very significant barrier — clocking a 5.951 secs at 230.80 mph — which made them the very first 4-cylinder RWD door slammer into the fives – ever!  In crazy quick conditions — Carl’s short times were .926 to 60 ft and 3.86 secs to 1/2 track. (See below LOL!)

Repeat Winner! Saskatoon’s Lloyd Harder had a another nice score during the 62nd version Good Vibrations March Meet – in California. Harder — who won the NE1 eliminator (7.60 index) title at Bakersfield once before (at 2017 Hot Rod Heritage event) won five rounds of completion racing his very reliable Chevy-powered FMD.  Lloyd sealed the deal in the final round when his 7.620 secs at 172.78 mph topped red-lighting opponent Hans Jacob.

Strong Showing Again! – Canada’s premier Nitro Nostalgia Funny Car camp once again made an impact during the NHRA’s Good Vibrations March Meet held at Bakersfield CA.  Edmonton’s Ryan Hodgson — driver of the now new look Pacemaker Camaro was the top finishing Canadian in the Nostalgia Funny Car eliminator — going to the “final four” on Sunday.  Ryan — who had 3 previous career wins in four final rounds at the fabled Auto Club Famoso Raceway — qualified #5 (5.715 secs).  He won two rounds before losing out to eventual winner Matt Bynum in the semifinals — Ryan’s best run was a 5.654 secs at 258.57 mph during round two.
