POLLARD NITROSPORTS WILL ATTEND 2010 MANUFACTURERS CUP FINALS IN GEORGIA
By: Jory Elliott
After exactly a one year hiatus from the track, Pollard Nitrosports will return to action at this year’s Manufacturer’s Cup Finals at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta, Georgia, November 12-14….
Who would have thought after an exciting Valdosta race in 2009, which saw the Pollard team become the 5th member of the MTC 5 second club, that it would be a full year before they would race again? As with other teams, there are a lot of things that kept the Pollards from the track 2010. Crew Chief Greg Pollard had this to say when asked about the upcoming event; “We have gone through our bike from top to bottom and we’re ready to go. It’s going to be a great race with possibly the quickest field ever in top fuel. We knew we had to be there.” Pollard went on to say; “A full year break doesn’t help us but we have made our quickest three passes ever in Valdosta, we have good data and love the track. The test and tune on Friday will give us a chance to work out any bugs.”
“There’s no way we would miss this” said Geoff Pollard, the only Canadian rider ever to straddle a 5 second motorcycle. “We know Larry McBride and the others will be tough as always but with no real series this year it’s anyone’s race, especially if there is a good showing of Fuel Harley’s, that’s what makes it so exciting! We are really happy the vendors have put this race together and hopefully it will lead to more races in 2011 and possibly a new series in the future.”
Pollard Nitrosports is looking forward to seeing everyone in Valdosta and towards building on the success they had in 2009 when they brought home two AMA Drag Bike series national event wins.
Pollard Nitrosports is proud to thank Brad Penn Oil, the “Official Oil” of Pollard Nitrosports, CGS Automotive and Refinishing, Plating Master, Sparky’s Performance and Vanhoucke Siding Contractors, for their support throughout the 2009 season and at this event in 2010.
About Pollard Nitrosports
On the track since the mid 80’s Geoff Pollard has piloted several types of racing motorcycle to event championships and national elapsed time and speed records. In 1993 Pollard Racing Canada was formed with the introduction of the teams Alcohol Funny Bike. In 1999 Geoff scored a Pro Star national event victory and became the first Canadian to eclipse 200 miles per hour on a motorcycle. After a close battle for the national point’s championship in 2000 the Pollard’s passion to go faster led them to the Top Fuel Motorcycle division. The team excelled out of the gate in 2005 setting the Canadian national record for the class and winning another Pro Star national event making Geoff the first rider in Pro Star history to win an event in Funny Bike and Top Fuel competition.
The Pollard NitroSports team debuted a new Top Fuel Motorcycle in 2008 and proceeded to reset both ends of the Canadian record with a 6.08 elapsed time, 231 miles per hour blast in November of that same year. 2009 offered more record-breaking performances for the team as they became only the 5th members of the MTC Engineering 5-second club with a 5.96 second elapsed time. The team also captured two AMA Dragbike national event wins in 2009 and recorded the quickest drag bike run in history on Canadian soil. They finished the 2009 campaign with a runner-up finish at the season ending AMA XXX Racing Fuels National Finals, en route running a stunning 5.93 elapsed time at 241 miles per hour, giving them the distinction of being the fastest non-U.S. based drag bike in the world.
